A System for Double Unders
When I was creating the CrossRope System, I knew the challenge and value of double unders as a skill and workout. As I’ve gone to boxes, sponsored competitions, given double under clinics and done WODs, I’ve met awesome owners, coaches and athletes. As I’ve gotten CrossRope into their hands and also exemplified the benefits and results, they’ve provided great support and enthusiasm. Read More.
Where CrossRope Excels.
Work Capacity – This system allows you to easily vary cable weights, each that have a drastically different feel and amount of resistance. The goal is to be able to do double unders with gradually increasing cable weights, thereby increasing your overall work capacity, not just for this skill, but in general. Not only can this translate beneficially to other exercises, but your double under ability and capacity (whether it be with a CrossRope speed rope or any other speed rope) will improve significantly.
Constantly Varied – Training with different cable weights will make you a better all around jump roper and athlete. Period. We’ve noticed that some individuals are all about challenging themselves with a variety of constantly varied, high intensity exercises. And yet won’t stray from a speed rope to try a new rope jumping challenge. Sure, you won’t want to use a heavy cable in a timed WOD, but for skill and fundamental development and improving double under ability, the CrossRope system is unmatched.
Easily Scaled – The CrossRope System offers something for every level of ability. It has been most popular with those who struggle with double unders because training with a heavier cable can help perfect form and develop upper body strength and stamina and also because slightly heavier cables are easier for a jumper to ‘feel’ when learning the rhythm and timing of a double under. The super fast speed cables are great, but tough for beginners to learn on. For athletes who are pretty good at double unders, this system gives a new way to train for incredible PRs by working sets with heavier cable weights and then dropping back down to your speed cable.
I’m really excited to get this into athlete’s hands because I’ve seen how well it works firsthand. It was a bit of an unexpected consequence in developing the system, but I personally improved from 80 unbroken double unders about 9 months ago to 415 unbroken in mid-August. And more importantly, my overall fitness has greatly improved. Sure there are better PRs out there and lighter faster jump ropes, but I promise you that this system offers unique and effective ways to train! -Dave
