Hi! My name is Dave Hunt and I’m a Lieutenant in the US Navy.
I like to credit the Navy for much of my inspiration to invent the CrossRope. I began my journey at the US Naval Academy and was a 4 year member of the Varsity Track and Field team as a high jumper, long jumper and sprinter. After receiving my commission as a Naval Officer and starting my aviation training, I made many good friends who shared my interest in sports and fitness and we were determined to stay in great shape. I was able to continue my physical fitness pursuits while stationed at Pensacola, Corpus Christi and then to Jacksonville where I began my training in the P-3C Orion.
With my first operational squadron, the VP-46 Grey Knights, I deployed to Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain and Djibouti. Out in the desert, I really started to incorporate jump roping as a serious part of my workouts to enhance my other intense exercises and routines. I first discovered the incredible workout I could get from weighted jump ropes at the base gym in Djibouti with 1 Lb. and 2 Lb. jump ropes. Unfortunately, I broke both ropes within a week due to poor quality and construction. This was the sort of experience that planted the seed of an idea for a better jump rope that I could use in my own workouts. I wanted a very fast and responsive jump rope that could also incorporate heavier jump rope weights for powerful workouts without jeopardizing long-lasting qualities.
I’m grateful to have experienced great loyalty and camaraderie amongst military service men and women throughout the years, both in the Navy and other armed forces. I know that as CrossRope grows, I’ll have the chance to repay and honor all of those who have sacrificed so much and I look forward to those opportunities. In the meantime, I’ve been extremely fortunate to get help from so many individuals that truly want CrossRope to succeed. And, there are easy ways that anyone who is interested can help: How YOU can help!
