Unlock Your Potential: A Guide to AMP's Free Jump Fields

Free Jump with AMP is the best way to jump rope while tracking real-time performance stats, keeping you motivated and engaged as you jump.

With Free Jump, you can set a target number of jumps, challenge yourself to hit your top speed, climb the leaderboard, maintain a specific heart rate, set personal records, and more, all while you’re actively jumping.

We know there's a lot happening during each Free Jump session. That’s why we've broken down every element of the interface, so you understand exactly what everything means.

Stats Available in All Jump Modes

Jump Totals

Let’s start with the basics: using a single rope. In this scenario, the large number at the bottom represents the total jumps you've completed during your session. If there's one key stat you care about, it's this one.

If you're using multiple ropes during a Free Jump session (FYI, you can select up to 4 ropes in the setup screen), the large number (191) shows the jumps completed with your current rope, while the number below (602) represents the total jumps in your session.

When using multiple ropes, you'll see each one listed at the top of the page. To switch to a different rope, simply tap on it. Under each rope, you'll find the total number of jumps done with that rope during your session. This is especially useful if you're aiming to hit a specific jump count per rope—like 200 jumps with each.

JPM Speedometer

The Speedometer tracks your jumping speed in jumps per minute (JPM). The large number in the center (208) shows your current JPM, while the bubble (243) displays your session’s highest JPM. Use the Speedometer to gauge your effort and push yourself to reach new speeds.

Heart Rate

For iOS users with an Apple Watch or a Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitor, your heart rate is displayed in the top right corner, giving you real-time insight into how hard you’re pushing yourself. The zone meter at the top shows your current heart rate zone (Zone 3 below), which is calculated from your peak heart rate based on your age. Heart rate and heart rate zone helps provide a useful gauge of your overall exertion, though it may not be 100% accurate for everyone.

Note: The Apple Watch doesn’t work on iPads. To view your heart rate on an iPad, you’ll need to use a Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitor (iOS only).

Average JPM

Your average JPM (jumps per minute) represents your overall jumping speed for the entire session. It's calculated by dividing the total number of jumps by the total session time, making it a handy metric for tracking whether you're maintaining a consistent pace throughout your Free Jump.

If you rest or switch ropes during Free Jump, you can choose to pause or keep the session running, but your average JPM will drop while you’re not jumping if the timer is running.

Streak

The large number displays your current streak (for example, 32), which represents the number of consecutive jumps you've completed without stopping. The smaller number below shows your maximum streak for the session (in this example, 33). Challenge yourself to see how many jumps you can do without stopping, and when you're on your maximum streak, this section will light up blue to let you know!

Stats when Setting a Number of Jumps or Duration

When you choose to jump for a preset number of jumps (e.g., 1000) or for a specific duration (e.g., 10 minutes), your Free Jump session transforms into a Benchmark workout. In this mode, you're racing against your best previous performance to set a new personal record (PR). The left side of the screen displays your previous best record (3:50)—whether measured in jumps or time—along with your current pacing target (3:42). When you're on track to set a new PR, this section glows green, encouraging you to keep pushing toward your goal.

Live Leaderboard

If you enable the Live Leaderboard from the Free Jump Setup screen, you can see how you’re climbing the leaderboard in real-time!

As you jump, you can see:

  • Your current rank (#90)

  • Who’s ahead of you (ed_ryan), and how many jumps until you pass them (20)

  • How many ranks you’ve climbed and jumpers you’ve passed (49)

  • Your total jumps for the time period, by default for today (3313)

  • Notifications as you pass each jumper

Just imagine the new milestones you can now set, you could…

  • Climb to the top 100

  • Pass Crossrope Trainers “JRBeastJennika” and “Chad Gonzales”

  • Move up 50 ranks

  • Jump to first place among your friends

Not into competition? No worries! Use the leaderboard as a fun tool to stay motivated with quick and achievable targets.

Available if Live Leaderboard Turned Off

Note: When the Live Leaderboard is enabled, calories aren't shown during your Free Jump session; however, you'll still receive credit for the calories burned and power output afterward.

Calories

Calories represent the energy you've expended during your workout, measured either directly by your Apple Watch or estimated based on your age, height, and weight.

Power

Power estimates the number of watts you're generating while you jump. Similar to power outputs from a rowing machine or stationary bike, this metric factors in both the rope weight and your jumps per minute (JPM). You can track your current power output as well as your maximum power during your session.

Summary

With all of the metrics in Free Jump that you can see while you're jumping, you'll be more motivated to push yourself to achieve new heights and jump for longer.
